Do company belongings need to be returned? And if so, in what condition should they be?
A reference letter can be important when finding other work; preferably agree on a positive reference letter.
A non-compete clause can make finding new work difficult. Negotiate this point.
A non-solicitation clause is a type of non-compete clause, but limited to the employer’s clients. However, some employers have many clients, so employees often prefer to have this clause restricted.
If you as an employee owe your employer money related to a course or training you took, it may be possible to arrange for (partial) forgiveness of that debt.
With the help of an outplacement agency, the chances of finding other work increase. Your employer may be willing to cover the costs of outplacement.
If employer and employee agree on final settlement release in the termination agreement, they have no further claims against each other except what is agreed in the termination agreement. Therefore, it must be carefully considered whether anything has been 'forgotten.'
If you are ill, legal assistance with the settlement agreement is especially advisable. Entering into a settlement agreement while sick does not always make you eligible for unemployment benefits. So be sure to ask for advice!
