Legal assistance and fees
Clear arrangements about the legal assistance you need and the associated costs.
Which type of legal assistance suits your case?
Good legal assistance should be affordable and the costs should be clear in advance. The appropriate arrangement depends on your dismissal situation, the work required and any legal-cost budget offered by your employer.
We therefore discuss the approach first. During negotiations, we seek to have the employer reimburse the employee’s legal costs where possible. This is often achievable, but cannot be guaranteed in advance.
Possible fee arrangements
We explain the proposed approach in advance. The precise fee arrangement is tailored to your case.
Hourly rate
You pay for the time actually spent. An experienced specialist can often work efficiently and purposefully. Ask in advance which work is required and what time estimate applies.
Fixed fee
Where the work can be clearly defined in advance, a fixed fee may be agreed. You then know the agreed cost before the work starts.
Minimum fee
During negotiations, we seek to have the employer cover the legal costs. If that is unsuccessful, a limited minimum fee may sometimes be agreed.
Result-based fee
In some dismissal cases, a result-based arrangement may be possible. You then pay an agreed percentage of the achieved result. We assess in advance whether this is suitable for your case.
When is the review free of charge?
As an employee, you can often have a settlement agreement proposed by your employer reviewed free of charge. Different arrangements may apply if additional investigation is required, for example into a social plan, or if your employer offers a budget for legal costs.
We explain in advance what is free in your situation and when costs may arise. If your employer offers a sufficient legal-cost budget, the agreed review costs will remain within that budget.
Choose the appropriate next step
If you do not yet have a document or first want to understand the available assistance, request initial advice. If you have already received the settlement agreement, use the direct review service.
